About

Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.
It has an estimated budget of €26.2 billion. This is nearly double the funding compared to its predecessor programme (2014-2020).

The 2021-2027 programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life.

It supports priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda.

  • The programme also:
  • supports the European Pillar of Social Rights
  • implements the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027
  • develops the European dimension in sport

How it works

  • 1.

The Erasmus+ program draws on the achievements of European educational programs that have been operating for 25 years. As part of the program, students have the opportunity to take part in international exchanges and many interesting activities at school, in the local environment and abroad.

  • 2.

The aim of the program is to encourage active citizenship and ethical behavior as part of lifelong learning and education; it is about supporting the development of social and intercultural competences, critical thinking and media literacy.

  • 3.

The program is a key instrument for building a European education area, supporting the implementation of European strategic cooperation in the field of education and training, together with the sectoral programs that make it up. Moreover, it plays a key role in strengthening youth policy cooperation under the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 and in developing the European dimension in sport.
